Stephen spent 40+ years at Trenton State Prison, New Jersey, and is currently incarcerated at Attica Correctional Facility. For over 17 years, Stephen worked as a hospital porter on a medical unit for men who mostly had terminal illnesses. He loved helping those who could not help themselves, and "got more satisfaction from the work I did than any other work I did inside prison or out." He is currently at work on a memoir, titled The Porter, about his experiences as a hospital porter, with excerpts to be published by ABCA in fall 2023.
