Archive-Based Creative Arts

We all should be heard, recognized, and fight for the inclusion of our voices in the histories that are about us and shape our futures. We do this through both the creation of new archives and access into existing ones. Our lives hold archives, and our ability to assemble, protect, sustain and articulate them in an artful form makes everyone an archivist. Join us on this journey of freedom to understand and express our histories with our OWN voices.

Archive-Based Creative Arts (ABCA) is a remote creative workshop, publishing platform and artist/author collective building collaborations across the wall.

ABCA artists and authors engage creatively with personal, institutional and unconventional archives, while building our own. You can access a downloadable catalog of 2022-2023 ABCA members and their work here.

Archive-Based Creative Arts was developed in collaboration with the Parole Preparation Project, and was funded July 2022 - July 2024 by the Creatives Rebuild NY grant. We rely on your generous donations for ABCA’s continuation and sustainability.
